Training with M&S offers lifeline to single parents
D
UNEDIN Canmore customers have the chance to land a job at Marks & Spencer thanks to a training partnership between Wheatley Group and the High Street giant. The Marks & Start
programme, which includes three days of training for participants, followed by two weeks’ work experience in Marks & Spencer at the Gyle Centre, Edinburgh, is open to Dunedin Canmore customers who are single parents. The two and a half week
programme provides a helping hand to single parents who might find it hard to commit to a full-time training or college course. The training programme is funded by the Wheatley
Foundation, Wheatley Group’s charitable trust. Chaired by leading public health expert and former Chief Medical Officer, Sir Harry Burns, it aims to target poverty and social exclusion.
It has committed to
invest £3million per year to improve the life opportunities of Wheatley customers, with the aim of helping up to 7,000 people by the end of its first year. If you’d like to find out
more about the Marks & Start training programme, or how the Wheatley Foundation could help you get into work, contact Kirsty McLeod on 0141 274 6350 or email
