News 11 Fuel advice helps
customer save TENANT Richard Stewart is over the moon with the service he received from Dunedin Canmore’s Energy Advisor Akbar Salik.
Richard was using a meter
for his gas which was charging him daily, even if no gas was being used. It was poor value for money and meant he was taking cold showers to try to save cash. Akbar visited him at home and helped him switch suppliers to a company that doesn’t charge him a daily fee.
New investment for tenants’ homes
New kitchens and bathrooms are transforming homes D
UNEDIN Canmore tenant Monique Belkacem is delighted with her new kitchen. Mum of one, Monique, 58, from Nichollfield, Leith said: “I’m so happy with it. I love the new worktops and all the cupboard space.
“I got to choose the colours that I
wanted for the units and they even replaced the floor too. “The workers were fantastic and left it so clean and tidy.” Dunedin Canmore’s investment
programme will see us spend over £30million on improving, repairing and upgrading tenants’ homes.
Monique is just one of our customers who has benefitted from a new kitchen. Since January we have upgraded 189 kitchens in Dunedin Canmore homes with another 187 upgrades planned before April next year. To find out what improvements
are due in your area visit the Dunedin Canmore website at www.

Free service for older customers means a helping hand for odd jobs
OUR free handyperson service can help tenants who are over 60 or disabled with small jobs around the home. Customers Bob and Mary Liddle recently benefited from the service. Bob, 72, from Dunfermline said: “We had a visit from a super young lad who fixed our cabinet to the wall.” They can help with a variety of jobs including hanging curtains, putting up shelves and pictures, plumbing in washing
machines and fixing windows. Director of Housing Alan Glasgow said: “The handyperson service is a lifeline for people who may not be able as they once were to carry out small jobs at home. “The service can help older people feel more independent in their own homes.”

Richard, 43 from
Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, said: “I can’t believe there’s an energy company that won’t charge me daily if I don’t use the gas. I’ll be recommending the service to all my friends.” Our Energy Advisors can help
tenants access the cheapest tariffs, sort low-cost payment arrangements and, depending on their circumstances, help them write-off long-term debt. A total of 968 tenants used the fuel advice service in 2016-17 – and saved on average £258 on their bills.
