Girls Golf has plans to expand


T


he LPGA- USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix organization


continues to lead the nation with participation and growth for girls golf, and the local program has plans to continue that trend with some exciting structural changes in the coming year. Among them, Girls Golf will bring more innovation to the local program with increased reach, impact and by engaging more girls through golf in the Phoenix market. A few select cities, host facilities and LPGA/


PGA professionals will play key roles as “home bases” for Girls Golf of Phoenix programming sites and be led by the current director, Cori Matheson. The 2018 season also will see a continued strong presence in Scottsdale, Mesa, central Phoenix, Chandler and Sun City areas. Peggy Briggs {east Mesa}, Tina Tombs {central Phoenix}, Kay

Golf of Scottsdale. “We are excited to expand our role with Girls Golf of Phoenix and proud to maintain and add programming specific for girls,” said Joe Shershenovich, director of golf at Grayhawk. With five new Girls Golf


sites and continued help from these local professionals, Girls Golf will be able to reach more girls and families throughout the Phoenix market.
