BIFAlink CCS-UK Electronic Fallback system reminder


CCS-UK would like to remind users of the Electronic Fallback system procedures for export and import in the event of a CHIEF outage. CCS-UK Electronic Fallback was


invoked shortly after CHIEF failed on 22 June. The system is designed


to keep air freight moving during a significant outage of CHIEF with the benefit of being far less onerous than the HMRC manual fallback service. Procedures following recovery of the CHIEF service are also relatively simple. If you have access to the service,


US FMC and DoJ to enhance collaboration on competition


The US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) and the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice (DoJ) last month signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster better cooperation on enforcement of competition issues across the container shipping industry. The MoU establishes a


framework for the FMC and the DoJ to continue regular discussions and review law enforcement and regulatory matters affecting competition in the shipping industry. It also provides for information

CHIEF is due to be replaced by the new Customs Declaration Service (CDS) and our online course covers the main differences between the two systems.
