Ialways thinkaboutpost-dubstep whenthatwasathing.Post-dubstep peoplealways saidtheyhatedthat termandIdon’tnecessarilyhatepost- punk,because I lovealotofpost-punk music,but I justdon’t reallyknowwhat itmeans.Peoplejustneedsomething categorisedinorder tounderstandit I guess,whichis fairenough.But Idon’t know,wegetaskedthatquestionquite abitandI justdon’t reallyknowwhat to say.As longas theylikethemusic, I don’t reallymind. Onthealbum, Inoticedsome meditativeelements,andLouis curatedaregularplaylistcalled SquietPlease.Onthealbum, that ambientdimensionreallycomes through.WhenIfirst listenedtosome ofyourEpsandsingles, itdidn’t reallycomethroughasmuchasit doesonthealbum. Yeah, I thinkso.Mostofus intheband, especiallymeandLouis inthepast few yearshavereallygot intoambient music. I thinkthat it is sodifficult todo well. Imeananyonecanputakeyboard throughadelaypedalandit’llmakea drone. It’ll soundnice,but it’llbehardto haveahugelevelofemotionthroughit. I

DoyouservetheconceptofSquidor doestheconceptserveyou?Orisita giveandtake? I thinkwe’reaproductofourparts. It’s definitelyacaseofallfiveofourminds togetherbeing stronger thaneachofour mindsontheirown. Ifyoutookanyone ofusoutof theband, thentheband wouldbeshite.So,Squidservesus. Hasisolationmadeyouthinkmuch differentlyaboutyourmusic,or changedyourapproach?Asaband, youseemquitefrenetic, andquite ‘live’.Andobviouslyforthepastyear youhaven’tbeenallowedtobelive, sodoyouthinkthat’saffectedthe wayyoumakemusic, thinkabout musicandworkasamusician? Definitely, I thinkit’sprobablyonething that thiswholetour iskindofdoing. We haven’t reallymovedaroundthismuch inalong timeandI thinkitdoeshelp withthat creativeoutputalittlebit. But it hasbeenreallynicebeing inoneplace forquiteawhile. But that’s lessofawork thing, andmoreofapersonal thing.

I thinkwereallyvibeoffmoving round andseeingdifferentplacesandmeeting newpeopleandstuff. But thenIdothink thatbeing inoneplaceandnotbeing abletoroadtestnewmaterialhasbeen reallygoodforour songwritingbecause weknowwewouldn’tbeabletotryout newsongs live. So,youhavetostart theminaroomandfinishthemina room.Thatwasquiteanicething.
