NEW LUXURY SPA

RELAX IN THE GARDEN An historic Gloucestershire hotel has unveiled its new £1 million luxury spa. The 17th century Stratton House Hotel in Cirencester has opened their new relaxation facility, ‘The Spa in the Garden’, to hotel’s guests and the general public.

Lend Lease Retail Partnership (LLRP), a fund managed by Built overlooking the 44-room hotel’s walled garden, the spa features four treatment rooms, a manicure and pedicure suite, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and relaxation areas.

Eight new jobs, including a spa manager, therapists and a reception team, have been created with experienced therapy specialist Lucy Brind appointed to run the new spa.

She said: “After the difficult year we have all had, I think everyone is in need of some relaxation and a bit of self-care. I want our visitors to really enjoy the experience of the fabulous new spa here at Stratton House and I am really proud of what we have to offer.

“It’s something fresh and new for the area and I hope it will attract more people to visit not just the hotel, but Cirencester in general.”

Stratton House Hotel, which is also a wedding venue, was purchased in 2016 by husband and wife, Aidan and Sarah Stevens. Including the spa, they have now spent over £2 million on a refurbishment programme.

Mr Stevens added: “We have spent the past year getting the beautiful new spa ready and now we’re delighted to be able to welcome our guests to experience everything we have to offer.

“It’s been a year in which many of the comforts and luxuries people enjoyed haven’t been possible but now we have the ideal place in which to relax and unwind. We can’t wait for people to visit and see for themselves what we have achieved.”

HOTEL UNVEILED ROYAL RESTORATION COMPLETE

Last month saw the long-awaited unveiling of the iconic Queens Hotel Cheltenham’s historic façade after over a year’s renovation work on the hotel.

During the hotel’s 2020/2021 renovation, the hotel covered its beautiful building with a temporary sheet to cover the scaffolding, whilst restoration work was ongoing. The covering has not only hidden the building work but more importantly, has been used to communicate with and bring positive messages to the community, including celebrating Remembrance Sunday, Children in Need as well as an Advent calendar in partnership with local schools and charity No Child Left Behind, over the festive season.

Listed as a Grade II English Heritage building, the hotel retains many of its original features from its opening in 1838.

Modelled on the Temple of Jupiter in Rome by Robert Jearrad and his brother Charlies, it’s a fine example of neo-classical architecture. Following the unveiling May, Queens Hotel’s imposing white façade of Roman temple scale, more than 50 Corinthian columns, carved cornices and Georgian windows is once again visible to the Cheltenham community.
