Hello to all our readers, advertisers, and contributors. Shops, leisure centres, meet-ups and pubs (outdoors) have now opened up and on the whole the weather has been good. It’s been a busy month here at the Scene as we continue to support hospitality, lei- sure and retail businesses (p22) with discounted adver- tising, at our discretion, till June. Cirencester Chamber is working together with the CDC and the Town Council to support local businesses, and launch ‘My Cirencester’ - a discount shopping card - at the end of May. With the retailers re-opening the owners are beginning to sign up to the card scheme to “help the customer to help them” - details p6. It will be delivered by the Scene with the June issue. Big outdoor events are in preparation. A new one is the Living Crafts Festival in Cirencester Park over the late May bank holiday. See their article (P7). Our local favourite, the free Phoenix Festival, has now launched a fundraising scheme (P13) as it costs around £50K each year to run this event! Cirencester Ramblers are back as is our own dog walking group. This is a good time to think of how to adjust your dog to being alone more, after you return to work. Read the helpful article by Natalie Jones, owner of SmugMutts (P32). The most exciting news is that the Barn Theatre will reopen on 18th May for Cov- id-secure indoor performance of “A Russian Doll”.
