Ciren Scene Magazine - Establishing Local Connections Polling Day Thursday 5 May

Bring your own pen and wear masks! Preparations underway to make sure polling sta- tions are safe for this year’s local elections and deadline approaches for voter registrations

Some polling stations have had to change due to some usual polling locations being unsuitable dur- ing the pandem- ic and so voters are being urged to check their poll cards to make sure they

know where their polling station is.

Residents are also being encouraged to make sure they are registered to vote.

Residents can register to vote through the Gov- ernment website, which takes only five minutes to complete.

A lot of residents have already chosen to vote by proxy or post, but that deadline has now passed.

Jan Britton, Returning Officer for Cotswold Dis- trict Council said,

“We are taking all the steps needed to make sure voters this year are safe at the polling stations and feel com- fortable voting in person.

“People will by now be familiar with the precau- tions we must all take to pre- vent the spread of Covid-19 and our polling sta- tions will be no different. If peo-

ple can wear masks and bring their own pens, we would really appreciate it.

“As a final reminder, I urge everyone wanting to vote to make sure they have registered in time so that they have the chance to have their say in this year’s local elections.”
