Should I see someone for my pain?

Pain, including back pain, is, to some degree a nor- mal part of life. However many aches and pains can be successfully treated by a professional. This can be back pain, neck pain and sciatica, joint pain, hip and knee pain and many others.

So how do I know if my pain should be assessed and treated by a professional?

At the Dyer St Clinic, this is a question we get a lot and the advice is to see a member of our team if

• The pain is new and hasn’t changed after a few days

• The pain is waking you at night or stopping you from sleeping

• The pain is getting worse, or not improving

• If the pain is stopping you from going about your normal daily activities, such as work, childcare, sports, or housework.

• If the pain is worrying you or getting you down Our team of Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and

Osteopaths are all expertly trained to assess your back and ensure that nothing se- rious is going on, they can also refer for imaging and scans which are rare, but sometimes needed.

Once making sure that your

pain is treatable, we use a variety of hands-on and exercise-based techniques to help reduce your pain as well as to keep you strong and active to reduce the chance of it recurring

If you have any pain and are unsure if we can help, any one of our team members will happily have a complimentary chat over the phone to ensure that we are the best person for you to see.

If you have back pain, the most important thing you can do is keep moving, keep it pain-free, but small and gentle movements, little and often. This not only works as a natural painkiller but also helps to reduce muscle and joint stiffness!
