ORHA Spring 2021 News

By Dan Fletcher. With this really nice weather in March it seems like everyone is getting really excited for the Ontario Reining Horse Association 2021 season! Plans are in place for 2 exciting Clinic’s to help everyone get their horses in

shape for what we hope will be a terrific year of reining. Starting with a youth Clinic at Epis Performance on Saturday April 10, this is a free clinic sponsored by the ORHA and Epis Performance, the spots filled up very fast and should be fun for all the youngsters to get to ride and learn from Loris. We are very thankful to have such a great youth team headed up by Rebecca Nelles and Terri Purdie. The youth have also had their elections for 2021 and Landon Brown will be president for this season.

The show season starts off at Fletchers Horse World on May 14,15,16 and we

are hoping that this will be the beginning of a terrific year for all of our members. There will be a full slate of reining classes held from Green Reiner to the open di- visions. There is always a class that will fit every level of horse and rider combi- nations, if you are just starting out in Green Reiner 1, a 10 and under Short Stirrup or a top level Non Pro we have a place for you to show in 2021. The 2020 season was shortened because of Covid restrictions but it was de-

cided as an organization, that we wanted to recognize all of our year end Champi- ons and Reserve Champions in a special way. The Holiday Inn could not hold our annual banquet but we still will be giving out fabulous awards to all of our year end winners and reserves! We would really like to thank everyone that sponsored year end classes to make this happen. There will time to present the awards on the Saturday evening of our first show, as well as the annual Silent Auction to support the ORHA banquet. This would be a great time to start collecting your silent auction items and save your pennies to buy some really awesome auction items! More de- tails to follow We are all very fortunate to have the Triple Threat Clinic again this year on

May 29, 30 at Fletchers Horse world. Our clinicians this year are three of the very best in the country

all spots were filled in only a few short hours. And mark your calendars for the second show

of the season, Pickering Horse Centre is once again opening up the facility for Reining on June 11, 12 & 13. Gary had actually taken some time last year to show his reining horse and had a pretty successful year! Thank you Gary.

Lastly the horse world lost a very great man,

Roy Ionson, who helped out all Equine Disci- plines. Our thoughts and prayers are with the fam- ily and Joan at this difficult time. You will be missed.
