Blackpool Sands Hailed a ‘must visit’ beach by national newspapers, magazines and celebrities. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the golden crescent shingle beach is sheltered from the wind thanks to its forest backdrop of evergreens and pines. Blue Flag designated and just a few miles from Dartmouth by car (TQ6 0RG - there is ample parking) or a pleasant hour and a half walk along the South West Coast Path. During the warmer months, lifeguards are on hand to oversee a range of watersports activities from kayaking and paddle boarding to good old fashioned swimming. All the gear is available for hire, including wetsuits. There are also sandpits, rock pools, a Venus Beach shop, Café and Takeaway serving delicious homemade produce including the amazing Venus breakfast, tacos and their famous burgers. Plenty of choice for plant based food lovers. Open every day come rain or shine.

These gardens were established in 1896 and have rare and colourful plants from South Africa, Chile, New Zealand and Australia - open to the public every day from 12th April to the end of September, weather permitting. Garden entry tickets are available from the attendant at the beach. Blackpool Sands and The Venus café/takeaway will be open every day. The Beach shop will be open every dry day. As Blackpool Sands is a Blue Flag awarded beach, dogs are not permitted from 1st May until the end of October.
