ISLE OF WHITE ISLAND LIFE
74
A little closer to home on the Isle of Wight, is the beautiful Adgestone Vineyard which has two self-catering accommodation options in a small cottage attached to the main building and a shepherds hut set up on the hill, among the vines.
A couple of times a year there is the opportunity to do some voluntary work with the vineyard, where workers are usually rewarded with a bottle of wine!
Travel to the Isle of Wight by ferry and feel like you are actually leaving the country and discover why the island is such a popular place to visit. Its unique microclimate makes the Isle of Wight one of the warmest places in the UK and holds the record for the most sunshine hours in a year. New for this year, Adgestone Vineyard are installing a helipad, should guests decide that is their preferred method of travel!
No holiday is complete without trying the local produce. At Adgestone Vineyard, they stock local preserves, pesto, Isle of Wight cheese, chocolates, honey and of course their very own English wines and liqueurs.
Making the most of their fermentation vats, they spend the spring collecting fruits, flowers and fresh grown root ginger from the vineyard to bring create natural Country Wines and for those with a sweeter tooth, also an exotic range of liqueurs.
More unusually, they also produce Something Blue - a unique, lightly bubbling Cuvee. It is the only blue sparkling wine made in the UK, made wholly from English grapes grown at Adgestone. If you're lucky, you may even find natural crystals in the bottle that further reflect the sea's beauty.
