COMPETING ONLINE
scene of arena devastation! In fact, somuch so, Iset the resulting video to the theme tune of the BennyHill showand speeded up the film… would Ieverget the hang of this Ithought! My firstone handed start wasinteresting to saythe leastwith ‘Mr D’ heading in every direction! My immobilitytask, whereIhad to leavehim standing unattached forten seconds resulted in him following me halfway across the school until we got to the gate. Iended up clinging on to the end of my makeshift rope gateashemovedfurther and further away from it and as formounting from the offside… well that really wassomething to behold as Inearly catapulted myself off the other side with asudden determined desperateshove. This occurred after Inearly got on backwards! Afew months on, Iamtrotting round
those peskyconesone handed and theyare still standing.Iamopening that gateand getting through it without demolishing it and though the mounting from the offside leaves alot to be desired, at leastIend up on top the right wayround and ‘Mr D’ is standing likeanimpatient trooper, possibly with the thought that he mayberewarded royally forhis stationary trouble with afew horse cubes. Yes, Iadmit to resorting to bribery! The final phase with the online Trec
competing is the Maîtrise desAllures or Control of Paceswhich is known as the MA. This involves cantering as slowasyou possibly canaround the arena round acorridor two to four meterswide and 150 meterslong within aset
time.FromCtoCisperfect, and then walking as fast as youcan on the oppositerein without breaking the gait. This is arealtestof paces and it really makes youconcentrateon control of speed within the gaits. Iwarn you that this is quiteaddictiveasyou strivetobeat your previous times. The two platforms Ihave been competing with areTrecRidersClub who areonFacebook and arerunning drop in Trec tests, as well as team Trec and individual test competitions. Dressage4all arerunning Trec testsonceamonth. Both areideal forgiving this greatsport agowhilstinlockdown. Iamfinding Trec quiteaddictive. It is
definitely teaching both me and ‘himself’new skills each time we try anew test.Ican’twait forthe world to open up again so that we can actually get out to try it in real time, but for the time being it is some of the mostfun I’ve had during lockdown -Ihighly recommend it.
