Earth Hour Luminaria Hike All Ages w/Adult


Join us for this big, iconic action turning off the lights! Show love for the Earth by powering down the lights and electronics. Enjoy time outdoors with others in a way that doesn’t use energy. Solar-powered lanterns will light the trail for this unique time of exploring the outdoors at night! Campfire included!


Habitat Clean Up All Ages w/Adult


Gather your friends and family to clean up our environment at Red Oak Nature Center and Lippold Park. We will provide all supplies for you to pick up garbage on our trails, along the river, and wherever else you see it! This is a great opportunity to get some of your service or volunteer hours completed. Come for all or part of the time.


Cave Hike All Ages w/Adult


Join us on a naturalist-led hike to the only cave in the Chicagoland region! Along the way, our staff will stop to point out areas of interest and signs of the season. Dress for the weather; we hike rain or shine!


Campfire & S’mores! All Ages w/Adult


Gather around the campfire and listen to legends and lore as you enjoy roasting your marshmallows! A registered adult must accompany all children.


Bookworm Wednesdays Ages 2-5 w/Adult


Come to the nature center and listen to an exciting nature-themed story! Each meeting will feature a different book and simple craft and may even include a short hike or a special animal visitor. Each registered child will receive a plush reading buddy to take home at the end of each session. Adults must attend with their child but do not need to register.


Grow with Me Ages 2-5 w/Adult


Spring brings new life in the forest, giving us so much to discover! Each class meeting, we will head outside for a short hike to see what new and wonderful changes our environment has to show us, and then we will head back inside to create a piece of art to share. Dress for being outside and getting messy.


Family BINGO Night Ages 5+ w/Adult


Join us for an evening of games and laughter as we play the classic game for prizes! All attendees MUST register and pay. Each person will receive one BINGO card, markers, and a popcorn snack. Additional cards are available for a small fee. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Makerspace at Home Challenge Ages 5+


Makerspace is coming into your home with our monthly challenges! Kits will be available to pick up on Friday or Saturday. Registrants will get one week to design, create, and complete their projects before submitting a photo or video evidence of their final masterpieces for placement awards! All projects can be done as a family or individually. Submissions and questions should be emailed to roprograms@fvpd.net.

The Wild Ones Social Club Ages 11-14


Socialize, investigate, play, hike, and more. Hang out with like-minded individuals all while enjoying the great outdoors. The club meets twice a month, and activities may include offsite field trips and opportunities for service hours and volunteer projects. For more information please email roprograms@fvpd.net.
