The Apartment Association Outreach, Inc.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT By Jeff March, BRG Apartments, Outreach President

Together, we have made a huge impact Jeff March

on our community assisting those who are the most in need. While 2020 is the year that will be remembered for the pandemic, I will remember it for the record breaking amount of support that we have provided to our com- munity due to your generosity. I would like to thank the Apartment Association Outreach (AAO) Board, our committee chairs who led our efforts, our army of volunteers, our partner agencies and our incredible membership. We have been able to assist thousands of

our fellow citizens during COVID-19. Here are just a few stories that demonstrate how you have made a positive impact. “Client A and her children had been homeless. They finally

were able to get an apartment, but with the pandemic, her hours were cut at work and she was afraid that her family would lose their apartment and be without shelter once again. The Outreach funding helped them keep their roof over their heads.” “Client B has three kids between 10 months and 5 years of

age. She is a victim of domestic violence. Another agency helped her get an apartment, but they could only help pay the rent for so long after her hours were cut at work due to COVID-19. AAO was able to assist with her rent so that she did not have to go back to her abuser or be homeless.

There are countless stories like these, and I could not be prouder

of our efforts this year. And there is still time to do more! Our Holiday Cheers Virtual Event continues through December 10, and you can help us raise more money to support Outreach by bidding on and winning great items that our awesome committee has procured. The event will culminate on December 10 with live feeds for raffle items and the $2000 Rapid Raffle... you will not want to miss out on this online opportunity to buy great items and to further our mission. So far in 2020, here is what we have accomplished. We have

provided emergency assistance of more than $6,000, educational scholarships in excess of $5,000, basic necessities to 80 kids through Childhood Food Solutions ($1,400), and backpacks and school supplies in an amount of more than $15,000 to help deserving children. And finally, AAO has provided $150,000 in RENTAL ASSISTANCE and over $70,000 to our FOOD PANTRY partners! Wow … thank you!! Lastly, I want to thank Janet Chiarella for her wonderful service

to Outreach during the last three years. Janet will be leaving the Out- reach Board, but she has left an indelible mark on our organization through her volunteer efforts, and especially her leadership on the Night Out for Outreach Committee in 2018 and 2019. Janet – thank you and you will be sorely missed! I am grateful for all of you and our amazing Outreach team.

You have made an amazing difference during this pandemic, and I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and a healthy 2021!
