As we approach the end of the year, Patty Braun Director of Membership
let’s take time to revisit the benefits the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association (GCNKAA) has to offer. As a reminder I have listed many of the benefits below for you to utilize and to take full advantage of your member- ship investment. And remember, mem- bership with GCNKAA also includes membership in the Ohio Apartment Association (OAA), the Kentucky Apartment Association (KAA) and the National Apartment Association (NAA).
We promote our three main areas of focus: legislation, education and communication.
LEGISLATION: Our membership strength is part of a pow-
erful voice that is heard and respected. A constant effort is made to keep members alert and informed regarding measures being considered by city, county, state and national legislatures. Charles Tassell, our Director of Governmental Affairs, fully dedicates his time to following, studying and updating our membership on any legislation that may affect our industry. We also have a legisla- tive committee which meets once a month. If you are interested in learning more and serving your time on this committee, call the office to sign up.
EDUCATION: We offer spring and fall designation programs
along with stand alone seminars. Our next program will begin in February. Contact Kaley at

COMMUNICATIONS: Our motto is, “Do Business with a
Member.” By using our Membership Directory you will find more than 270 service providers as our Associate Vendors. You can also find the Preferred Vendors on the website under the Online Directory Search tab at
www.gcnkaa.org. Our monthly newsletter not only announces the new members, but we have up-to-date in- formation on all aspects in the apartment industry. We also feature several interesting articles from NAA as well.
Along with our three main benefits, we have monthly net-
working events, free fair housing posters, lead paint booklets (35 cents each), Ohio Worker’s Compensation Plan and a Housing Mediation Service. For our Independent Rental Owners (IRO) with fewer than
200 units, your membership includes an additional five round table meetings per year. Topics of interest to independent owners range from maintenance procedures, legal rent collection process, en- vironmental issues, handling a disaster, pest control and housing mediation services.
