The Paroian Family

cannot begin to tell the story of Mr. Leon Paroian and his contributions to the Quarter Horse industry without a whole page ! But let me bring back the memories of Leon and Sandra’s 4 kids that showed very successfully. Sherry Paroian, what

a wonderful woman she was ! She was on the OQHA Congress Youth teams in 1975,1978 and 1979. Sherry was on the Ontario Youth team that won the Youth tournament at Spruce Meadows Al- berta. She was also a top 10 winner in Trail at the Congress ! Sherry sadly passed away in 2004 Philip Paroian, He

Leon and Sandra Parioan and family members

By Bruce Ionson. Once again I like to

put the spot light on a Family that was a big part of the Ontario Quarter Horse Association. Leon and Sandra were so very proud of there family. Real family people the Paroian crew was known through

my talents working in a factory and that I could do so much more with my life. That day was a shift in my life (for real) and when I got back home I decided to start a new journey and I did.

Leon was that kind of

Man as one of Ontario’s successful Attorneys and a

was so tough to beat in Horsemanship, he was a natural. Philip had a very successful show career highlighted by being on the OQHA Youth team 1976 – 1979. Philip now lives in Olympia Washing- ton and works at the Wash- ington state investment board.

was another All Around Youth with her good Geld- ing shown in the photo winning

Youth Gelding class. Cara Paroian-Brown

Cara continues the Paroian tradition of showing at an elite level. It was very ev- ident that her love was Reining back when she was showing with her sib- lings in OQHA and she is so awesome at it. Cara and her Husband Kevin live in Windsor and continue to show NRHA There are so many

other photos and accom- plishments that I could continue to share but I think you get the idea. This is a family that loved showing Horses and did it together as a Family. The Paroian Family played such a positive role in the development

out the industry. I will al- ways remember Leon pulling me aside one year at the All American Quar- ter Horse Congress in Ohio. Leon sat me down and told me I was wasting

huge supporter of the OQHA. In 1994 Leon was presented an OQHA Life time membership #6 to be given. Leon was also in- ducted into the OQHA Hall of Fame in 2004. I
