OXC News
An old cowboy once
said, if you climb in the sad- dle, be ready for the ride. Ontario Extreme Cowboy members haven’t climbed in our saddles as much this summer as we do in a usual year, especially to ride to- gether, but we’re trying our hardest to be ready for the ride. Whether we’re putting on training rides in the ring, pen or field, practising rop- ing for our Xtreme Ropin’ Challenge, or wandering across the acres searching for a water hole to splash through, our members have been riding as much as they can.
To help keep us ride-
ready, the OXC is hosting on-line webinars this fall. In the September webinar, OXC President, certified Equestrian Canada Western Competition Coach, EXCA Level 1 Judge and 2019 On- tario Equestrian Coach of the Year Susan Caldwell presents ‘Getting Creative’ and ‘Obstacles on a Budget’ — coming up with obstacles that won’t break the bank
and are as simple yet can be as challenging as you want to make them. With a back- ground as a graphic de- signer, coming up with creative, challenging obsta- cles and courses is right up Susan’s alley. The whole Webinar Series is FREE to OXC members and you’ll find all the details on up- coming topics and speakers under the ‘Events’ tab on the OXC website. The OXC continues to
be grateful to all the riders who have joined the OXC or renewed their OXC membership in 2020. Your support will help cover our yearly costs and keep us going even stronger into a brand-new year for 2021, and to show our thanks, we’re
continuing Monthly our Give-Aways.
We’re happy to congratulate Michelle Sequin on being the lucky OXC member to win the August Give-Away prize of a beautiful one-of- a-kind, hand-crafted cedar candlestick holder created and donated by John Hodg- son of Cavagnal Wood- working. And the membership
perks continue! The Sep- tember Give-Away prize is a stunning hand-crafted bronc noseband and nylon halter.

join in the fun! The end of an OXC
season usually brings our Provincial Championship and Silent Auction. Unfor- tunately, we won’t be hold- ing
the
Provincial
Championships this year, but we are forging ahead with an on-line version of the silent auction – you can bid and win from the com- fort of your couch or your saddle! The auction items are coming in fast – if you’d like to donate an item to help the OXC and at the same time promote your product or services to our members, please check out the Events tab of our web- site for more details. In August, the OXC
hosted our inaugural on-line Xtreme Ropin’ Challenge and here are your winners. Congratulations
to the
Youth winner Kirsten Cogh- lin (via Instagram) 10/10 in 3:33, our Adult winner Rosemarie Huxted (via Facebook) 10/10, our spe-
cial category Most Creative (and brave!) winner Wyn Nikityn (via Facebook) for roping her brother — and an honourable mention and big thanks to the challenge or- ganizer and OXC Youth Di- rector
Josie Rowling.
Congrats to all, enjoy your OXC swag and stay tuned
for the next OXC Member- ship Challenge! Enjoy the beauty of
September, and may you al- ways be ready for the ride.

The noseband is created and donated by Ashley at Tim- berline Farm in Harriston, Ontario, and to enter to win it all you have to do is be a full adult, youth, or day member of the OXC. A day membership is only $10 and would usually allow you to enter one race day but this year it means you’re entered into the monthly draw for
the month you purchased the day membership in. Full adult and youth members are entered in our monthly member give-aways every month this year. Details on how to purchase your mem- bership can be found on our website, and more info about our Monthly Give- aways are under
the ‘Events’ tab. Join us and
