2020 was not the year that any of us expected but we have many things to be thankful for;

• We are thankful to our amazing sponsors that committed to supporting our circuit in 2020 • We are thankful to our amazing product and service sponsors who supported the 2nd Annual EOQHA Online Auction led by our President Cheryl Norris • We are thankful to our supporters who bid and made the 2nd Annual EOQHA Online Auction an out- standing success • We are thankful to those participants who booked stalls in hopes we would be horse showing in 2020 • We are thankful to AQHA and Brian Isbell Garcia for their support in offering our exhibitors the EOQHA/AQHA Virtual Clinic opportunity. A great training experience from the comforts of your farm! • Finally, we are thankful that the EOQHA Board of Directors is positive, inspired and planning for 2021!! Be sure to visit our Facebook page and www.eoqha.com for the latest activity planned for EOQHA.

We hope to see you in Carp, Ontario in 2021! Enjoy a healthy and safe fall season!!

customizable apparel and accessories for men, women, and children. Check it out today and sup- port your Ontario Quarter Horse Association! Below are just two examples of the great options available for purchase!

Lisa Rath Lisa Rath is employee of Vic-

toria Order of Nurses (VON), Lisa is responsible for keeping the personal protective equipment in stock and up to date, for fellow VON employees. The VON offers essential personal support care for many members of communities across Ontario. Often times their assistance allows our dis- abled and elder citizens to remain in their homes, ensuring proper care and nutrition for which without their help would have to move into as- sisted living facilities. Lisa and her colleague’s duties during this pan- demic have walked the line between both essential service worker and first responder throughout this pan- demic, often arriving on the scene with paramedics when their clients are in distress. Lisa rides a registered Ameri-

can Quarter Horse mare “Sheza Flaming Tiger” aka Tia, together they serve on the Ontario Mounted Special Service Unit (OMSSU). The pair have attended numerous OMSSU events participating on the

CQHA Q Hero

int e r - national award-winning performing drill team and acting as both com- munity ambassadors and security at public events. Serving as a Captain with OMSSU, she adds great value to the team with her medical back- ground as a past personal support worker, and also participates in the fire prevention community ride through visits in Ontario’s cottage country with Ontario Fire Prevention Officers. In addition to her mounted

volunteerism Lisa also operates a boarding barn, which like so many across Canada have faced many changes and obstacles during this pandemic. Lisa has worked dili- gently to ensure the welfare of the horses in her care, many of which are registered Quarter Horses, and also has adapted her routines and fa- cilities in order to facilitate safe equestrian activity on her property once the province gave the OK to do so.

For her commitment to her

community as an essential service provider with the VON, and her ded- ication to the equine industry as a

boarding facility operator and her volunteerism with Ontario Mounted Special Service Unit which is a proud alliance partner of the Cana- dian Quarter Horse Association , CQHA honours Lisa Rath as a 2020 Canadian Quarter Horse Association Q Horse Hero!
