WELCOME TO OUR NEW MONTHLY COLUMN OF NEWS AND VIEWS Dear reader,

In these days of pandemic we wanted to find new and innovative ways of reaching out to the communities that elect us and that we are proud to represent at Kent County Council. It is important to emphasise that these monthly articles are funded from our own pockets and no taxpayer money or subsidy is involved whatsoever.

Paul Cooper

Neither do we seek to represent KCC to yourselves. This is our initiative on behalf of the residents in the South and South East of Maidstone to let you know what we as elected representatives are doing and how we view the challenges ahead.

If there are local issues that you would like our help on then our email addresses are published below and we would welcome your feedback. And it is not just the emotional and mental health wellbeing that matters. We’re working to address social isolation, along with partners, and we’re acutely aware that as support mechanisms introduced during the lockdown are gradually withdrawn, that it will mean increased difficulty for many of our constituents. So, we will be seeking ways to provide some help and support.

Gary Cooke

With all best wishes. Feel free to get in touch. Paul & Gary

Youth Matters - We Care

We’re working on the ‘Youth Matters, We Care’ event, which will take place on November 14 at the Vine Church, Loose. This event aims to celebrate the easing of lockdown as well as the acts of kindness, achievements, community spirit, resilience shown during that time and the major role played by our young people.

Part of this celebration will be for young people to decide on the allocation of funds from our members’ grants for good causes that have applied for funding to help support young people affected by Covod-19 or the lockdown. The projects will be subjected to a Dragons Den-style pitch before decisions are taken by the young people themselves.
