GCNKAA KEEPING COMMUNICATION OPEN DURING PANDEMIC Our Associate Council has continued to work


By Don Brunner, President Hello everyone. These last six weeks have been


a challenge. All of us have been tested in ways we haven’t experienced before no matter if you are a supplier partner, primary member, or a Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Associa- tion (GCNKAA) staff member. Who would have thought we would cancel the summer golf outing and trade show in the same year? But steps like those are what it takes these days to keep everyone safe and healthy.


To that end, we are all still trying to run our businesses and long for the days of what normal used to look like. The GCNKAA Board of Direc- tors, Associate Council, committee members, and GCNKAA staff have been working hard to still provide as much information and support as we can under the current restrictions. Our board has met via zoom and we are attempting to continue in a semi-normal schedule. Most of you either know about or have been a part of our bi-weekly Towne Hall calls with both GCNKAA and Greater Dayton Apartment Association (GDAA). These meetings have provided a pathway for our members to share their thoughts or get ideas others are doing to assist their businesses. One of the things I love most about this association is the camaraderie and willingness to share ideas and best practices with your fellow members and our industry.


COVID-19 CONCERNS After extensive conversation, the board of directors and staff of the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association have decided to cancel the summer golf outing for the year 2020. We have been monitoring the progress of COVID-19 as well as reviewing the CDC plan to reopen the country. Ohio Governor Mike Dewine has taken a very conservative approach to this process so far and we fully expect that approach to continue. Both phases 1 and 2 of the CDC plan state to keep gatherings under 50 people, and even the final phase will limit contact. We feel there is no way to get past phase 3 by June, which means a golf outing of our size is nearly impossible to hold before the end of this year. Futhermore, several of our largest companies expressed that they were not comfortable sending multiple employees into crowded areas due to the potential spread of COVID-19. We have also had several


on ways to meet and provide our supplier partners an opportunity to sell and provide their services. In conjunction with the GCNKAA staff our committees are still meeting via zoom to insure we are still getting the word out on programs and education. Our Social Media committee is committed to providing everyone the most recent updated information in regards to events, ideas, and suggestions.


We will be conducting several supplier partner calls


starting in early May. These calls are another avenue to keep our members and industry partners informed. The first call will be focused on what has transpired and what the GCNKAA can do for its supplier partners. The second call will be more of a sales round table. We will meet as a group to start and then break out into individual rooms with a board member assigned to


each room facilitating the call geared to how to sell in this environment. Going forward, each month I will be focusing on one of our Diamond Sponsor Supplier Partners. forward with the fall golf outing scheduled for late September. At this time, however, there is no projection of which phase of the CDC guidelines we will be working through. Until we continue to progress through the COVID19 pandemic, we will continue to note that this event is tentative. We thank you for your patience and we hope you are staying safe
