The Apartment Association Outreach (AAO) 2020 5k 4 Rent was cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Despite this unfortunate cancellation, most of our spon- sors and registrants generously donated their committed funds to support rental assistance. As a result, AAO still raised $23,485 net, close to our budgeted amount. These dona- tions will help our five partners: Freestore Foodbank, Welcome House of NKY, Jew- ish Family Service, Santa Maria and CAIN. Many individuals and families in crisis will


benefit from this assistance. I want to thank Cincinnati Coin Laundry who graciously do-


nated their $5,000 Presenting Sponsorship to Outreach. We greatly appreciate their continued support for Rent Assistance, the AAO and for their commitment to the 5k 4 Rent year after year. Please see page 22 for all of the 5K sponsors who donated their sponsor- ships this year. We are looking forward to next year’s 5k 4 Rent


fundraiser which will be held on April 10, 2021. The AAO continues to be proactive with all of its programs.


The Board approved 12 CAM Scholarships, and these deserving recipients will conduct their education either online or in the fall. The Outreach will also purchase backpacks and school supplies in August to support hundreds of students, whether they are learning from home or at school. Finally, these have been unusual and challenging times for our


families, our team members and our residents. Our five partners have been extremely grateful for both our ongoing assistance as well as the additional donation of $14,000 to rent assistance and $10,000 to the food pantries that Outreach made in early 2020. AAO also received an extremely generous anonymous donation of $20,000 from a local foundation in early April, and these funds have also been earmarked for rental assistance to help those families who are facing housing instability during this unprecedented crisis. It is kindness, decency and generosity like this that will help us all get through this crisis together, and it is my hope that this will be the legacy of COVID-19.
