Bernard Montgomery, 1945, a large uniface cast bronze sculptured portrait medal by A. de Jaeger, bust left wearing cap with two badges, names of actions around in two lines, 120mm (BHM –; cf. DNW 58, 1607). As made, very fine with dark patina, very rare; set onto a shield-shaped wooden plaque, with receptacle for wall mounting on the back

Field Marshal Sir Bernard Law Montgomery, KCB, DSO (1887-1976), later Viscount Montgomery of Alamein. The portrait being instantly recognisable the sitter is not named on the medal; however, his military successes, including El Alamein, Caen, etc, are listed. Illustration reduced
