Welcome to the latest issue of Welcome

For this month’s walk we return close to home, having had to abandon a walk to the south of Devizes where the tracks were just too muddy to walk without the risk of losing your boots. We decided to head for higher ground and enjoy the wonderful views from Oliver’s Castle. Although there was still plenty of mud when we walked it, hopefully by the time the magazine comes out it will be slightly drier under foot.

Gardeners have also been waiting for slightly drier weather and the soil to start warming up, particularly if you have been busy sowing seeds. Towards the end of the month the RHS is holding its National Gardening Week and this year’s theme is ‘Sowing the Seeds of Friendship’. Gardening can be a very sociable activity from garden visits to clubs and societies or even joining one of the ‘Clean Up Gangs’ that work so hard across our towns helping to keep them looking beautiful. Check out our ‘What’s On Guide’ for gardening events and open gardens under the National Garden Scheme.

If you enjoy walking with your dog do turn to page 21 and enter our giveaway to win tickets to take part in this year’s Wag Walk in aid of Bath Cats & Dogs Home. Hundreds of dogs took part last year and after the walk, walkers are welcome to stay and picnic.
