Pins & Needles’ News Words supplied

New home The growing demand for quality yarns and natural fibres means that Pins & Needles deserves a better building. An exciting opportunity presented itself; and owner Victoria has taken the plunge to relocate and diversify. Yes, the wool shop and cafe on the canal wharf will become one!

Renamed the Kingfisher Café, it’s upstairs in the canal centre, with the canal museum next door. Previously a bonded warehouse, the café area is full of historic character. Victoria plans to continue it very much as a place to grab a great coffee and cake, a light lunch or snack but with a difference - the menu is entirely meat-free. Café manager Jess and her team are making sure all goes well.

Yarn Shop Day At Pins & Needles, Yarn Shop Day is the biggest event of the year and

Woolista and The Secret Crocheter. There’s also a Scrapheap Challenge – bring along a bag you have made entirely from scraps. Outside will be some pop-up shops, including the fabulous Florrie & Jean, who makes gorgeous project bags and eco goodies. We are also looking forward to Sue Savage and her spinning wheel. Everyone is welcome, come along and discover bargains and a lot of fun.

that will be held at the ‘old’ shop, just across the road from the café - the theme for the day this year is a ‘Bagstravaganza’ with new patterns launched by local designers Vixter

Once the dust has settled from Yarn Shop Day and May’s bank holidays, Victoria will be moving the wool shop into the café. The space is excellent for workshops and themed events. The café and yarn shop compliment each other very well; it is quite a change for the old warehouse.

Do come along for your coffee fix or your yarn fix and always a very warm welcome.
