Last year the first-ever Asian Woman Festival, an event that celebrates what it is to be an Asian woman and aims to smash stereotypes, took place and was the first event of its kind in the UK! This year it returns even bigger and better to Walsall Football Club on the 4th April to empower even more South Asian Women.


For 2020’s event the Asian Woman Festival team, led by their inspirational founder Shani Dhanda, has landed major backing of Birmingham’s leading property group Love Your Postcode, run by Bobby Singh. Esq. While this sponsorship opens up amazing opportunities for the festival to reach a wider audience, with more


high profile speakers and exciting talks, it also opens up a bigger conversation around how men, and male-owned businesses, have a huge role to play in supporting female causes. The feminist movement has gained significant momentum over the last few years and while this has often been driven forward by the actions of women, it is now more important than ever that boys and men play an active role in dismantling inequalities in our society. After all, as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pointed out, feminism is ‘‘the knowledge that when we are all equal, all of us are more free.” At the heart of feminism, and indeed the values of the Asian Woman Festival, is that once we are able to unshackle
