CapMetro Unveils Two New Electric Buses
I
n January, Capital Metro celebrated the unveiling of its fi rst two electric buses.
T e buses will feature artwork by students at AISD’s Lewis Campbell Elementary Me- dia and Performing Arts Institute (Camp- bell Elementary). Capital Metro partnered with Creative
Action to manage an artwork contest with students, grades 2-5, at Campbell Elemen- tary. Each grade level received assignments prompting them to create art about what a healthier planet means to them. A panel of judges from arts-based organizations in the community judged the fi nished artwork and chose 23 student winners. T e artwork and electric buses were un- veiled at a ceremony at Campbell Elemen- tary. T e buses went into regular service in late January. Capital Metro is dedicated to a sus-
tainable future by having an all-electric fl eet, which is an important part of the Project Connect transit vision.
