Your children work alongside you – how important is family not only for you but for the continued quality of the wine? “My daughter, Hélenè, has exceptional talent and totally understands the style of Vérité. She is the perfect person to hand Vérité over to. She understands the complexity of the blends and we have been repairing vineyards for new stock to ensure not just the protection of the quality but also the style of the wines. My son, Nicholas, was working in a bank in San Francisco but in 2002 he told me he wanted to work in the wine industry too. That was not expected as he was doing so well in the finance business but it was a very special moment for me. He joined Jackson Family Wines in 2003 as a vigneron, like Hélenè.” He is the vigneron for the St Emilion vineyard, Chateau Lassègue, in France.
