Lottery winners’ photo story
A MAIDSTONE couple who scooped a lottery million are to star in a photographic exhibition. Held to mark 25 years of the Na-
tional Lottery, the London show will display some of the more quirky and different ways winners have put their money to good use. Adam (35) and Amy Pryor (30)
created a sensory room for their daughter Charlotte in the new home they bought after a EuroMil- lions success. The exhibition runs at the Ful-
ham Palace Gallery until Novem- ber 10 and aims to illustrate inspiring, obscure and heart-felt stories of the lottery winners. The Pryors were having a tough
time when they won in August 2017 as Charlotte, now three, had suffered health issues from birth. Adam said: “Charlotte was born
seven weeks early with a cleft palate, and while doctors were running tests,
more
emerged. Charlotte was diagnosed with a chromosome abnormality, and was totally deaf in one ear and partially deaf in another. “The first eight months of her life

vice or are interested in becoming a good neighbour, call Christine Parkes on 01622 842217 or email

14 Maidstone December 2019 Land donated for community open space
PLANS are underway for four- acres of land in Headcorn to be- come a new public open space for villagers. The land behind Mill Bank has
been gifted to the parish council by Dr Ian and Sandra Roberts. Some of the arrangements have
proved frustrating, not least pro- viding access to the land.
Initially, it was hoped this would
be via the A274. However, devel- opers Chartway/Orbit have agreed in principal to make provision for it to come through the new estate they are building on Ulcombe Road. They have also agreed to con-
tribute to the costs, which includes revisions to the planning permis-
sion. They state that the new access will not be built until adjoining homes are built, which will be de- termined by how long it takes them to sell the first phase of properties under construction. The land involved runs behind
Mill Bank and the northern bound- ary of the 220-home development, which starts behind the school.
issues
were spent with repeated hospital visits, and as Amy’s maternity pay was due to end, the cost of getting to hospital in London, by train and parking fares added to our worry. “The win put an end to all that and meant we could swap our
two-bedroom terraced house for a four-bed detached home where we’ve been able to create a sensory room for Charlotte. She loves this room and we can see her making huge progress. Better still, it’s a space which makes her so happy –
she laughs and chuckles.” This is one of the images fea-
tured at the exhibition. Joining Charlotte and her par-
ents in the exhibition are another Kent couple, Wayne and Desiree Home, from East Farleigh, whose win heralded a massive change in circumstances for the pair, after life-threatening illness and finan- cial ruin. The stunning exhibit includes 25
unique photographs of winners and aims to tell their individual stories and paint a picture of their fascinating lives. Lottery spokesman Andy Carter
said: “This exhibition is a fantastic showcase of wacky and obscure hobbies, to the generous, heart-felt and even surprising stories that winning The National Lottery has enabled some of our 5,500 million- aires to have.” The first National Lottery draw
was on November 19, 1994. In that time, 5,500 millionaires have been made from £71 billion in prizes.
