Carer ‘living in fear’ after £10k cash theft

A CARER was robbed of more than £10,000 worth of £2 coins she had collected at her home in Shepway. Beverley Dillon (64), of Essex

Road, believes someone she knows burgled her house, by smashing her front window, on October 10. The mother of four says she is

“obsessed” with collecting coins and was going to use the money to live off whilst she was off work re- covering from a hip replacement. But on her return from a 14-hour

shift, Miss Dillon (pictured) found her bedroom door in pieces and her seven-year collection gone. The self-confessed “workaholic”

says she waited four days for a po- liceman to arrive after making the emergency call. Choking back the tears, she said:

“Where are the police when you need them? I don’t think I can ever face living alone now. Have these people got any heart?”

Her English bulldog, Rocko,

who is unwell, was put in a nearby alleyway during the break in. Miss Dillon added: “I sat down-

stairs all night … with a great big hole in my wall where the window was. I was shaking like a leaf; I began to think I had dreamt it.” Miss Dillon says Christmas gifts for her sons were also stolen.

called police, she was told a police- man was “en route” but a detective did not arrive until October 14. She said: “These scumbags can’t

be touched. Police don’t want to know. People don’t report things anymore. What’s the point?” A police spokesman said Miss

Dillon’s case is being investigated and she would be kept updated On October 16, a 16-year-old
