Galliford Try, a leading housebuilding, regeneration and construction group based at Uxbridge, topped the charts among large and medium-sized quoted companies based in the Thames Valley when it came to share price rises in September (up 14%).
Investors obviously noted that during the month it reported strong progress against strategic operational targets in all three businesses, with pre-exeptional profit before tax of £155.5 million – in line with previous guidance. Through Linden Homes it built over 6,500 new houses, a figure slightly up on the previous year.
One of the best results of the month was in the small companies’ section where Angle, the Guildford group, saw a 20% increase.
The company develops products for use in rare cell diagnostics that enable early accurate identification of an individual’s condition for the prevention,treatment, and monitoring of disease, with a major focus on cancer. It estimates there is a potential global market for the group’s Parsortix system worth in excess of £8 billion per annum.
Another group to see a good price rise (13%) was Pebble Beach Systems, the Weybridge-based company that is a global software business specialising in solutions for playout automation and content in the broadcast markets.
