Yavan Brar has succeeded Frankie Tierney as managing partner at Herrington Carmichael, with Tierney continuing as a partner and the head of dispute resolution. Brar joined Herrington Carmichael as a trainee solicitor in 1997, before going on to be the head of the corporate and commercial team and now managing partner.


Taylor Made Computer Solutions, a Peach Technologies company, has announced that Paul Sylvester has been appointed as head of product development. In addition to this new role, he will continue to hold responsibility for the company’s Security Operations Centre (SOC), established in 2018 at its headquarters in Whiteley, Hampshire. This state- of-the-art facility is designed to support businesses across the region as they face an increased threat of cybercrime. Sylvester joined TMCS as head of service operations in 2017, bringing with him many years of experience managing IT services, cyber security and technology deployment in large corporate environments.


Thames Valley law firm Blandy & Blandy LLP has recently welcomed a series of new faces to its team. Solicitors Emily Riesco and Helen Stott have joined the firm’s probate, tax and trusts team, ranked in the top tier by the UK’s leading guides to law firms, Chambers HNW and The Legal 500. Holly Cook has joined the family team, also ranked in the top tier, as a solicitor, while solicitor Asma Muneer has joined the firm’s experienced dispute resolution team. Emma Ford and Ed Giles have begun training contracts with the firm, taking up their respective seats in the probate, tax and trusts and residential property teams, and Natasha Hood has joined the latter as a conveyancing assistant. Jonathon Brown has also joined as a management accountant, while Emily Murray and Emma Carr join the firm’s support team.


A Thames Valley lawyer who has qualified as a notary public says his additional skillset will enable him to help an increasing number of clients with international links. Paul Lowery, a partner in the private client team at specialist tech law firm Boyes Turner, qualified as a notary public after two years of studies at University College, London. His new role, which he will undertake alongside his existing position with the Reading-based firm, enables him to help corporate clients and private individuals by authenticating and certifying signatures and documents for use primarily in transactions with an international element.


Lee Sennett has joined the corporate restructuring and advisory team at law firm Shoosmiths. Having more than 15 years’ experience in the market, Sennett has a wealth of expertise in providing legal advice across restructuring and non-contentious insolvency. He regularly acts for lenders and other creditors, corporate organisations, directors and insolvency practitioners. Sennett comes on board after more than three years at Ince Gordon Dadds, and has also previously practised at Osborne Clarke and Blake Morgan.


Dorset firm of solicitors Steele Raymond continues to invest in the future as it welcomes a trio of new trainees to the firm. Amy Baugh (second left), Jessica Wade (left) and Ben MacDiarmid join the Bournemouth-based firm to embark on a two-year training contract. Bournemouth-born Baugh studied law at Bournemouth University, during which time she joined Steele Raymond as a placement student. Returning as a trainee, she will take a seat within the expanding family team. Wade, also from Bournemouth, joins the training programme after graduating from Exeter and Bournemouth Universities. She found her way to Steele Raymond via the firm’s assessment days and will take her first seat within Steele Raymond’s leading company and commercial team. Another Bournemouth local, MacDiarmid studied Law at Reading University and, after graduating in 2013, spent three years in the finance sector, He then took a paralegal role in the company and commercial team at Steele Raymond, and now takes his first seat in the dispute resolution team.
