Outside, cheerful stained-glass

deck birds perch atop dog-ear fence boards and colorful stained- glass flowers pop out of window boxes. Inside, windows are the backdrop for stained-glass panels and framed art depicting mer- maids or mosaic birds. Sun catch- ers of all shapes and sizes cover the studio’s windows, while bead- ed mobiles hang from the ceiling. “Maybe I’d like the world to be

more whimsical and not so seri- ous,” Christy says. She embraces light and color by

using a variety of glass and materi- als, and her subjects are often light-hearted and amusing. Some of her bestselling work, which happens to be perfect for gift-giving, includes sun catchers, fan pulls, window screen bugs whose legs fit into the mesh holes of screen, china plate angels, air plant holders, wine bottle neck- laces, and magnets with humor- ous sayings such as, “I have OCD and ADD so everything has to be perfect but not for very long” and, “If you can’t say anything good about someone, sit next to me.” Her work also includes stained- glass garden stakes, panels and mosaic art, and she is experiment- ing with new multimedia ideas. She sells her work at her studio and at shows across the Southeast and Midwest. “There’s still so much I want to

do,” Christy says. “I have so many ideas. It’s ridiculous.”
