Ceadrow Farm tops Chilliwack


sheep show Eight breeds represented this year

CHILLIWCK—The 147th Chilliwack Fair was held at Heritage Park, August 9-11, thanks to the efforts of chair Renee Higginson and committee members Lawrence van der Peet, Andrew Paisley and Bill Higginson. Eight breeds were


represented this year: Dorset, Southdown and Charollais each had their own classes. All Other Breeds 1 (AOB1) featured Oxford and Cotswold and while AOB2 included Suffolk, Hampshire and Isle de France. The judge for this year’s competition was David Cadsand from Saskatchewan. Announcer and ringman were Sherri and Terry Thorne from Langley.


The supreme champions


were selected from the winners of all the breed classes.


The supreme champion flock was a Charollais flock exhibited this year by Heather Gilliland of Ceadrow Farm in Langley. The Supreme champion ewe and ram were


awarded to a Charollais yearling ewe and Charollais yearling ram also exhibited by Ceadrow Farm. The supreme get of sire


were Southdowns, exhibited by Bill Higginson of Higginson Southdowns from Chilliwack.


Special class champions


this year were Higginson Southdowns for pair of ewe lambs, Ceadrow Farm Charollais for progeny of dam and Ceadrow Farm Charollais for yearling ram.


Thanks also goes to the local sheep breeders: The Walker family of Shepherd’s Haven; Jessica Walker of Song Hill Suffolks; Johanna Walker; Gord Blankstein of Mountainview Farm; Shelby Blankstein of Little Bo Peep Sheep; Cole Fehr of Eternia Farm; Shirley Hopkins; Kathy Hope of Goldenview Farm; Louisa Nicholls of Cedar’s Equestrian Centre; Andrew Paisley of City and Country Southdowns and to Fallon Gardner of Flying Dirt Acres from Cache Creek for showing their best purebred sheep at this year’s Chilliwack Fair.
