As part of an ongoing consultation into the Electrical Installation SVQ and Modern Apprentice Framework, Head of Employment Affairs Fiona Harper visited employers and training providers in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fraserburgh and Alloa throughout September to canvass their opinions.


Specifier and Client Relations Manager Yvonne Wilson helped organise two SEC Group Scotland seminars about avoiding payment problems at the Aberdeen Altens Hotel on 24 September and the Dakota Hotel, Motherwell, on 25 September. Delivered by Professor Rudi Klein, Len Bunton and Angus Pearson, both were well attended by SELECT Members.


ACROSS THE UK LONDON


Head of Technical Services Dave Forrester flew to London on 3 October to deliver his input into the European Technical Information Model at an Advisory Board Meeting of the Electrical Distributors’ Association.


LONDON


Head of Employment Affairs Fiona Harper travelled to London to attend meetings of the Labour Relations Committee and JIB National Board on 10 and 11 September respectively.


KENT


Head of Resources John McGhee visited Swanley in Kent on 30 September and 1 October for a two-day meeting about the upcoming merger between the Bluesky pension scheme and Crystal Trust.


CRIEFF


Technical Standards Adviser Bob Cairney was a guest speaker at the ASCP Safety and Compliance Conference in Crieff on 26 September, where he discussed measures to mitigate the effects of fire in an electrical installation.


FIFE & TAYSIDE


Technical Adviser Keith Hagan chatted to Members from the Fife and Tayside region at a special drop-in session at the Broxden Farm pub in Perth on 16 September.


EDINBURGH


Head of Employment Affairs Fiona Harper attended the second skills group meeting of the Construction Scotland Industry Leadership Group, held at the ISC Laboratories in Edinburgh on 26 September.
