Nutmeg “Nuggets” 4 Reasons Why You Need Floatation Therapy
mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Self-care should always come first, and should never be looked at as a reward, but more a necessity for preventing disease and restoring health. The chal-
S Four Reasons to Float
1. Reduce sensory input: floatation allows you to reduce sensory input more than any other environment. A break from the office, school and your phone can help you refill your physical and emotional stores. You will have more energy to tackle the rest of your day. A much needed digital detox can go a long way.
2. Allow for physical decompression: a large amount of physi- cal energy and much of our brain is dedicated to dealing with and fighting gravity. Whether we are standing, sitting or lying down; the ground, a chair or a mattress is pushing against us. When we lie in water, blood flows freely throughout your body. Not having to fight gravity lets your muscles, joints and bones get a well-deserved break. No longer focusing on supporting your weight or regulating tempera- ture, your body has more resources to focus on healing and resting.
3. Reach a deeper meditative state: upon entering a float room, a strong sense of calmness and relaxation overcomes you. Your brain down-shifts to a much lower frequency producing theta brainwaves. This happens in that ‘between waking and sleeping’ state. In this theta state we experience unpredictable, unexpected, vivid dreamlike images. Sadly, we don’t experience this for very long because we tend to fall asleep or wake up. In a float room, you are able to “hang out” in the theta state and experience free association, sudden insight or inspire creative thoughts.
4. Increase your magnesium stores: according to World Health Organization statistics, as much as 75% of the U.S. adult population does not meet the recommended daily intake of magnesium. Regular float sessions allow magnesium to be easily absorbed through your skin. Magnesium calms your nervous system and reduces cortisol levels, the stress hormone. Magnesium can help alleviate symptoms related to depression and anxiety. Filling your magnesium stores can improve sleep, muscle recovery and calcium absorption to improve bone health and prevent osteoporosis.
Make float therapy a staple in your self-care practice. Remember, the more frequently you float, you will reach deeper states of relax- ation and recovery.

Top 10 Breast Cancer Prevention Tips
1.Increase consumption of veggies: 8-10 servings per day. Get as many colors as possible especially greens.
2.Fiber up: 35g per day (veggies, fruits, beans, nuts, non-gluten grains).
3.Have 3-4 oz protein at every meal: think “clean” and “lean”.
4.Boost good fats/Omega 3’s: (olive, coconut, ghee, avocado, nuts, wild salmon, grass-fed beef) to decrease inflammation.
5.Kick the SUGAR habit: and avoid the other white stuff too – white flour, white rice, and pasta. Use fruit to satisfy your sweet tooth especially organic berries. Remember, sugar feeds cancer.
6.Watch your alcohol: one glass of wine a day increases your risk of breast cancer by 40%! Alcohol every day challenges your liver’s ability to metabolize your estrogen. Stick to three glasses of wine per week.
7.Go clean & green: avoid toxins where you can. Filter your water, eat organic food, buy non-toxic cleaning and body care products. Check out
www.ewg.org to work on this. Toxins are hormone disrupters.
8.Check your Vitamin D level: 50-90 ng/ml is the current recommended range to prevent cancer. While you are at it, check your CRP which is a measure of inflammation.
9.Manage your stress better: you have to start somewhere so how about getting some help from an app? Check out HeadSpace.
10.Get great sleep: if you are not getting great sleep, take the time to figure out why.
11.Exercise: That’s ten, but we can’t forget to move every day and exercise!
