SUSANNA RICHARDSON E VERY THING ORGANI S ED

SUSANNA RICHARDSON HAS EVERYTHING ORGANISED. . .

Susanna is a wedding and event planner who has been responsible for some of the most talked about parties both here and abroad. A former city girl, she's swapped her heels for the Cotswolds and we're delighted that she will be sharing her musings with us each month.

I’m going to divulge a secret, I’ve been watching Love Island. My husband is frankly appalled and told me most nights how he can feel his IQ dropping just from having to listen to it in the background. I just couldn’t help it though, I was addicted.

I was trying to work out why I loved it so much. Obviously, there’s the sort of mindless trash of it all. It requires no thought whatsoever – you can just stare at the screen for an hour! I was then away in Spain for a few days, so was forced to watch it on catch up and that's when it hit me, what I really loved about it – I live text with my friends during each show, so it's the fun 'around the show', strict 9pm check-in to the WhatsApp group. We send each other gasps of horror at the latest couplings and regular inane chat about who we think should leave. I don’t do this with any other show, in fact I don’t watch anything else live, so maybe I’ve just found my version of football?

One thing we chat about a lot is how long it takes the girls to get ready. We’ve concluded that we would be tired before we went out and our bingo wings would ache from the contouring and blow dries. How can it even take that long? I feel slightly shocked that my make up routine consists of about 5 minutes worth of effort, and that’s when I am really trying! I may need to up my game?

I also calculated that I can go from shower to out the door in about 40 - 60 minutes and that includes some serious faffing

time and full-on blow dry. I’d imagine, side by side, you’d be able to tell though as I highly doubt I’d win any pageants. [laughing]

Thankfully, I was able to up my cultural points with a work trip to Lake Como. It’s venue search season, so I get to travel the globe looking at gorgeous venues for clients. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it...

Whilst I have an unapologetic love for Italy I’ve never been to Como and boy it didn’t disappoint. During any trip to Italy my husband morphs into a local after about 72-hours, he now has ideas of buying a Riva Boat and giving tours of the lake! Not a bad retirement plan though? Maybe I can have a Gellato stand and use the dogs to pull in the tourists? Seems to work quite well in the Cotswolds villages, where they regularly have to stand still and pose for pictures, so if I teach them a bit of a Italian we’ll be good to go I reckon!
