Drunk spat in face of PC trying to help her


DRUNKEN Kelly Anne-Louise Burns spat ina femalepolice offi- cer’s face after refusing to leave a pub inMaidstone, a court heard. The joblessmother (32), of Locks


Yard,Headcorn,became aggressive towards officers called to help her get home after a night out at the QueenAnne public house. The courtheardBurns kickedthe


back door of the police car, which hit the officer’s leg, and proceeded to spit in her face. Amagistrate described the act of


spitting as “absolutely disgusting.” Prosecuting, James Nichols said:


“Miss Burns refused to leave and became increasingly aggressive to officers tryingtotakeherhome. She has similar previous convictions from January 2018 where she as- saulted a police constable.” Claire Wynn, defending, told


Maidstone Magistrates Court: “Miss Burns had hit rock bottomat this point. She lived in 23 different


foster homes before she was even- tually adopted aged seven. She re- turned to care a fewyears later. “She has had two abusive rela-


tionships in six years. She has no close family. She attempted suicide because of her neighbourswho she describes as ‘hell’. She feels trapped in her property. “She went to the pub and drank


toexcess, she’sveryremorseful and upset with herself. If someone touches her, she ‘freaks out’ and, this time, she lost her temper. She has askedherGPformorehelpand is paying forCBT therapy.” The court heard Burns suffers


from ADHD and borderline per- sonality disorder. Probation officer Joe Green said:


“Whenshe canaffordit,MissBurns smokes cannabis and drinks alco- hol. She drinks any alcohol twice a week, but drinks to excess two or three times amonth. Shedecidedto get out of her flat and came to Maidstone. She is currently signed off from work but appears to be motivated to change.” Chairman of the bench, Alex
