There were plenty of smiles at Oakwood Park Grammar School Girls top league atAlevels


STUDENTS from across the borough went back to school to pick up their much-anticipated Alevel results onAugust 16.


Girls have overtaken boys for


achieving the topgradesnationally this year – despite the number of students awarded A to A* grades falling overall. About 300,000 UK students


pickedup their results,with a total of 801,002 A-levels awarded - the lowest number since 2005. Figures fromthe Joint Council for Qualifi- cations also show the number of students awarded an A grade or higher fell to its lowest since 2007. Despite recent controversy about


universities making students un- conditional offers before they re- ceive their final results, pupils continued to have their hardwork rewardedwith some top grades. Year 13 students at Invicta


Grammar School achieved superb resultswith63%of all grades being A*,Aor B grades this year. Three students secured Oxford


and Cambridge places. Matilda Head will study psychology at Cambridge; Toni Quadri will study French at Oxford and Misa Rai will study medicine at Cam- bridge. Head Julie Derrick said: “I am
