Husband and wife team Carl and Jo Roe have owned Smith’s Garage since
April 2017.
However, Carl has worked here for around 15 years having worked for the previous owner, Rodney Mulhearn. Rodney had owned and run the business for over 50 years having opened in 1964, Carl is keen to maintain the superb level of customer service that the garage has become renowned for. Carl explains that it has been is life-long ambition to own and run this garage and so when the opportunity came about, he knew he had to go for it. This is still very much a traditional, family-run business where service and value for money are paramount. However, traditional doesn’t mean this is not a forward-thinking business.
Carl has recently invested in the latest up-to-date diagnostic equipment which is compatible with any make and model of car. On modern vehicles this is always the first step when looking at engine management and mechanical issues, so this is a vital piece of equipment in the workshop.
Joining Carl in the workshop are Grant, Arnie and DJ. Between them they have vast experience and there is not a lot they haven’t seen, worked on, repaired and serviced. With a wealth of knowledge and well- equipped workshop it is hardly a surprise to learn that Smith’s Garage undertake just about any work you could ever need on your motor vehicle. Everything from services and repairs, body work and welding, cambelts and clutches ad MOT’s and tyres are all handled under one roof.
One area that has seen
significant investment is in air conditions re-gassing. Carl and the team offer standard air-con re-gas from £49.99+vat and the newest more environmentally friendly air-con re-gassing (typically on cars from 2015) starts from £69.99+vat and £15+vat per 100g of gas thereafter. Of course, as we move into the warm summer months it is nice to know you don’t have to go far to get your air-conditioning serviced to ensure you keep cool!
Diagnostic and air- conditioning machines are at the cutting edge of modern technology. One thing that never changes is the need for runner on the road. Here at Smith’s Garage the team have a dedicated tyre bay and keep a selection of budget and mid- range tyres in stock for the more popular / common sizes. specific brand of tyre then Carl is able to order any make and size of tyre and with multiple daily deliveries it will usually be in the same day. Smith’s Garage work closely with suppliers and other garages to ensure they are able to continue offering the best possible customer service, if they don’t have what they need to fi a car they can get it and usually the same day. Smith’s Garage also offer class 4 (up to 3 ton) and motorcycle MOT testing. MOT’s for cars are usually available within two or three days though the team will always try to fit you in and help in an emergency. Motorcycle MOT’s are by appointment only.
Eagle-eyed passers-by will notice a selection for cars for sale on the forecourt.
