Aboriginal services

In addition to all of Uniting Communities’ services, we provide specific programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Support is available across the Murraylands, Riverland, Limestone Coast regions and north-west suburbs of Adelaide.

This includes a ‘one-stop’ service for people seeking support with their use of alcohol and other drugs, focusing on the importance of cultural connection in rehabilitation. Our cultural activities include group work, Aboriginal art and craft activities, as well as cultural workshops and traditional healing. We also provide a community residential rehabilitation program, counselling and case management services.

We can support Aboriginal people from regional and remote communities who are at risk of rough sleeping, with short and transitional accommodation when visiting Adelaide. The service is also for Aboriginal people who are tenants of Housing SA, and at risk of overcrowding or disruption due to visiting friends and family from rural and remote communities.

For people getting away from domestic or Aboriginal family violence, we can offer support with funds to set up a new, safe home. This can include support with utilities and connections, removalist and storage costs, whitegoods, furniture and household goods.
