Older people

With a focus on independence and choice, Uniting Communities has provided aged care services for more than 60 years, supporting both older people and their carers.

Our Commonwealth-funded Home Care and Home Support Packages help older people to age well in their own homes, providing them with high quality services – such as cleaning, gardening and shopping – to maintain the household. Social support is another feature, enabling people to pursue their hobbies, remain active in the community and catch up with friends.

These services are also available privately, and to veterans through a program run by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Allied health services, including physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy, also support independence.

Through a range of tailored individual and group body and mind classes, older people can improve, maintain or restore their physical fitness, and keep their minds sharp.

For those requiring additional support, the well appointed Murray Mudge (Glenelg) and Aldersgate (Felixstow) aged care residences offer a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment. Both facilities are fully accredited, with secure grounds for people living with dementia, private gardens and strong local community connections.

Caring for someone is a significant responsibility and, from time to time, carers may need support. Our services for carers help them to take a break from their caring role and focus on their health and wellbeing, knowing that the person they care for is well supported.
