Local Citizens Advice receives Rotary award

JANET John, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice North East Suffolk, pictured here with the Rotary Club’s outgoing President, Paul Randle, has accepted the award of Beccles Rotary’s President’s Cup, at the club’s recent Handover. This award, is a recognition of the charity’s contribution to the people of Beccles. Many people are not

aware that Citizens Advice is a charity and most of their highly skilled and trained advisors are volunteers. ‘We are thrilled that the

work of our local Citizens Advice has been recognised and valued by the Rotary Club of Beccles’, said Janet John, ‘What we do covers a wide range of services from helping with housing

problems, debt and other money problems to advising on legal issues such as employment rights. We could not do this without our hard-working volunteers or without donations from the public. This is especially crucial as

we face increasing threats to our funding at a time when demands on our services are also rising.’ Citizens Advice North

East Suffolk offers advice at its offices in Lowestoft, Beccles and Bungay - more information on its services, and how to offer support, can be found on its website nesuffolkcab.org.uk.

BEC 3/BUN 3 White Plains

THEY’RE back the astounding white plains band relaunched and dynamic. Playing their top hits from

the 60’s and 70’s (My Baby Loves Love, Julie, Julie, Julie and many more) together with their own personal arrangements of the hit songs of that exciting era. Introducing the band, we

have Ray, the drummer of White Plains, who is also one of the original members. Mick on keyboards, the bass player Dave, and Dion on lead guitar. All these gifted and talented musicians, within their own long, successful careers , have played with, or alongside, all the great acts during those magical years (The Searchers,

The Fortunes, Small Faces, Ivy League, The Platters), the list is endless. The band decided they

would like to have a female as an added attraction to the line- up and have introduced Karen Lee Burnette as a new member. Karen started singing when she was ten years old, and has appeared in cabaret, sung with her own bands covering a huge spectrum of styles and rythms and loves being in the recording studios. White Plains, with their dynamic music and vocal harmonies are currently preparing to go on tour and will soon be appearing in theatres up and down the Country.
