AN exhibition of captivating images from six photographers connected to Bungay. Joe McKeown, Karen Leah, Richard Ecclestone, Jason Palmer, Harry Read and Clay Perry. The exhibition, held in the beautifully naturally-lit gallery at The Fisher Theatre in Bungay features magical ‘Bungay Ghost’ images, assembled and digitally produced by Black Dog Art's Karen Leah. These blend old photographs from Bungay Museum of key places around the town with new shots staged to match the originals. Photographic still life studies of fruits and vegetables from esteemed avant-garde photographer and photojournalist Clay Perry. He features in the National Portrait Gallery and was hugely inspired by Sánchez Cotán for this series. Rock photographer Richard Ecclestone took time out of shooting album covers and rock magazine features to produce a startling studies of Bungay ‘faces’. Each study is shot in his usual style, but his sitters include the local nuns, a family of local electricians and a beloved Bungay dance- teacher. Award-winning, young

choir and we welcome all singers and would-be singers. Choir practices are on Monday evenings at 7.30pm in The Church at London Road, Harleston. Subs are £40 per term (some concessions are available) and music is provided free. So come and join us! Further information in the various sections of the website www. harlestonchoralsoc.org.uk or from Jo Curry jo.curry@sky. com

Harleston and District U3A Have you thought about

giving membership of U3A a try? The annual fee is modest and there are more than twenty different interest groups. You can widen your circle of friends, enjoy days out and altogether make your “third age” (i.e. semi or full retirement) more enjoyable. For further information

contact Membership Secretary, Kim on 01986 788149 or log on to our website www.u3a. org.harleston. Our monthly meetings, with a speaker, raffle and some social time, are held at St John’s Church at 2pm normally on the third Wednesday of each month.

‘Familiar’

Bungay photographer, Harry Read brings us two walls full of his spectacular natural history adventures. These greet you, most pleasingly, as you ascend the stairs to the main gallery. In our cafe we host local, highly- regarded and semi-professional natural history and landscape photographer, Jason Palmer. The Fisher is deeply honoured

to be exhibiting some really extraordinary and momentous images from the collections of late, great Bungay resident and award-winning ‘Picture Post’ photojournalist, Joe Mckeown. Images of Donald Campbell rowing across Coniston Water, the night before his untimely death, fight for your attention against some of his incredible ad work, and other images of Harold Macmillan and his time in Suez and as first journalist allowed in a Russian Naval Ship during The Cold War. The exhibition runs until

12th September. (Open most lunchtimes and showtimes, check opening times before travelling far to visit! 01986 897130). The Fisher Theatre, Broad

Street, Bungay, Suffolk NR35 1EE. All welcome.
