died July 3. She was an NCHA member and she and husband Jim bred a string of major aged event fi- nalists, including Dualin Lights, Playing Short, and Neat Little Shorty. She was also an avid pho- tographer. Her photos have been featured in the Cutting Horse Jour- nal.

Wayne Jordan, Pilot Point,

passed away July 4. He was most involved with halter horses, but also made AQHA Honor Roll in Working Cow in 1970 and in Dally Team Roping 3 different times. He had judge’s cards:AQHA, WCHA, ApHC, NSBA, and APHA. In 2015, he received the AQHA Life- time Achievement award.

Robert McLeod, 80, died July

6. After playing for the Houston Oilers 1961-1966, he moved to Brenham, where he raised cutting horses for many years. He owned Colonel Freckles when trainer Olan Hightower won the NCHA Futu- rity in 1976. McCleod showed that stallion’s daughter, Lovely Freck- les, to win the 1984 NP Challenge.

Gary Ray, 67, Throckmorton,

died July 11. Possessed with a pas- sion for training cutting horses, he worked with his wife, Connie doing that for 40 years. He loved training and showing his horses and earned many accolades. He was an AAAA NCHA judge since 1985. Though he had a serious work ethic, he joked a lot and made peo- ple laugh and smile.

AQHA stallion owned by Jerry and Carmen Kimmel, Granbury, was euthanized July 12 due to age-re- lated complications. In 2006 he was a medal winner at the FEI World Equestrian Games and in 2007, he took reserve in senior reining at the AQHA World Show. w
