The Big Taco Barrel Race, held July 5-7 in Taylor, paid
out $97,685! Open 1D champs were Jill Patteson (Friday/Eyesa Redneck Bully/14.998), Kay Branford (Sat/Born Ivory James/114.898), and Michelle Alley (Sun/Mr JB 1031/14.985).
Tru Ropings Productions’ King Ranch Truck Roping,
held July 5-7 in Clovis, NM, paid out $14,040. Winners in- cluded Matthew Gutierrez and Lonnie Wright (#11-Big Money /36.86-on-4) and Ramiro Tercero and Cade VanSoelen (#10/18.07-on-3).
The 2nd annual Freedom Run, held July 5-7 in DeRid-

Highlander Training Center, Seymour, recently
named Jeff Hooper as its new chairman and chief execu- tive officer. He began his new duties July 8. Hooper’s re- sume includes 11 years as NCHA’s executive director.
The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame
announced 2019 inductees on July 9, including Mayisha Akbar, Janell Kleberg, Stacie Dieb McDavid, RADM Christina Alvarado Shanahan, Laura Wilson and inaugu- ral Sergeant Reckless Award recipient Robin Hutton. The annual induction luncheon and ceremony is scheduled for November 13 and of course in Fort Worth.
The annual Athens Summer Jubilee, held July 11-
15 in Athens, was managed by An Equine Production. Southwest Reined CHA youth were availed of a
treat when Carol Rose hosted a free youth clinic July 13- 14 at her ranch in Gainesville. Top NRCHA Profession- als, including Todd Crawford, Wade Meador, Christian Lybbert, Carter Metcalf, Dell Hendricks, Ben Baldus, Sam Rose, Pam Rose, Taylor Gillespie, and Lee Deacon shared their knowledge of the exciting sport of Reined Cow Horse with 63 youth.
