Safety update Dave Forrester, SELECT’s Head of Technical Services, delivered a technical presentation to the meeting. He updated delegates on the changes to BS 5839-6, as well as Scottish legislation relating to the design and installation of fire detection and alarm systems. Dave outlined the various types of interlinked heat and smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors that are now required in every home. He also discussed the impact the changes would have on areas including sheltered housing and houses in multiple occupation (HMOs).


President’s election Other business of the day saw Kevin Griffin unanimously re-elected as SELECT President for a further year, with Donald W Orr voted in as the Vice President. Afterwards, Alan said: “The AGM provides a valuable opportunity for staff and Members to come together and discuss the essential work that we continue to carry out on behalf of our Members. “The last 12 months have


thrown up a number of challenges, but we have risen to them all and we can look back with some satisfaction on a number of great achievements.”
