help evening SNODLAND Medical Practice Patient Participation Group is holding an information evening for parents, carers and anybody who would like to know more about mental health problems. Dr Rebecca Prince, from the
practice, said: “We are seeing an increasing number of young people with emotional difficulties who need support. “This evening is being pro-
vided byMIND to help recognise and support children’s and peo- ple’s mental health needs. Our aim is to help these young peo- ple by early recognition and in- tervention.” John Stockham, chairman of
the PPG, said: "We see in the media nearly every week where a mental health problem has af- fected a young person, often with catastrophic results. “This evening will give an in-
sight into how to recognise such problems early and what to do about it.” The event is at Snodland Com-
munity Centre at 7pm on Wednesday, June 26.

ModestHelen rewarded for her community work
HARDWORKING Helen Comber has been named winner of this year's Snodland Town Council Community Award. The Taylor Road resident was
singled out for the honour for doing so much work, residents have marvelled that she finds time to eat and sleep. Among her many achieve-
ments, Helen became secretary of the Children's Society in 1983 and is still involved raising money through carol singing. And she has also produced
the church monthly leaflet for more than 20 years. Town council chief executive
Karen Sowten, who proposed Helen for the award, said: “She joined the 1st Snodland Christie Beavers in 1984 and is still an assistant Beaver leader. “She was a governor of Snod-
land Church of England Primary School for 12 years, and has been a member of the church choir and the parochial church
