Punch left one brother dead, the other in jail
BROTHERSCarl and Lee Eldred were inseparable. Their mum, Carina, recalls themsharing “the strongest bond” and doing “everything together”. But their family was shaken to

ing, said the brothers had an ar- gument that culminated in Carl (34) punching Lee (36). Defence barrister Oliver Saxby
said: “This could have happened 100 times and on 99 occasions it wouldn’t have ended in death or serious injury.” But a blow to the head left Lee

to be done, but there are no win- ners inmy family. I knowLeewill notwant Carl to be punished.” In another letter, Carl told the

roadside, said he was sobbing, claiming he thought his friends
court: “The ultimate punishment is knowing Iwill never seemy big brother and friend again, and that is something I will never forgive myself for.” Carl, of Little Footway, Langton
Green, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to four years in prison. Mr Saxby said: “He really is a brokenman.”
