Multimodal 2019 is the 12th edition of the UK and Ireland’s largest logistics and transport exhibition, covering every sector of the industry, from air to sea, from road to rail – as well as supporting markets such as warehousing and technology. The exhibition runs from 18-

space, networking opportunities, and a three-day education programme for the entire supply chain, offering attendees the chance to come together, gain industry insights, and grow their professional networks and businesses. Seminars and workshops are

spearheaded by industry insiders and thought leaders who bring their experience and expertise to the exhibition floor, while fostering discussions and debates on the most pertinent issues

affecting the industry today. Keynote speakers include chief

executive officer of Transport Intelligence, John Manners-Bell, and Jeremy Nixon of Ocean Network Express (ONE), who will be sharing his outlook for the shipping industry. Nixon comments: “Liner

shipping faces many global challenges, but is rapidly evolving. ONE has come a long way since commencing operations a little over a year ago, and I am looking forward to taking the podium,

Shippers’ Village will provide the opportunity for freight buyers to meet with logistics suppliers to discuss bilateral business opportunities in dedicated meeting rooms. “Multimodal has grown every

year since its inception and today it is recognised as the leading logistics and transport show in the UK and Ireland, attracting an unrivalled scope of industry leaders, experts, and supply chain decision makers from all sectors,” says Robert Jervis, logistics portfolio director at Multimodal organisers, Clarion Events. “The show provides excellent networking opportunities for visitors and exhibitors alike, and our new seminar steering committee will ensure next year’s education programme reflects the latest industry developments,

as well as the challenges and opportunities.”

Education programme

Multimodal 2019’s education programme will feature seminars and workshops on new technology from the perspectives of innovation and disruption, Brexit opportunities, and the labour crisis. Day One of the programme

focuses on disruption, and John Manners-Bell of Transport Intelligence will kick off the discussion with a speech on why logistics is vulnerable to disruption. In

on recruiting, retaining, and engaging new talent in the industry, and speakers from BIFA, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and Career Ready will share the discussion floor with speakers from the next generation of transport professionals. “We need to challenge the view

that the logistics industry is about trucks and sheds and show young people that it’s fast-paced, dynamic, and ripe with opportunities for personal growth and career development,” says Ian Nichol, head of logistics at Career Ready UK.

“In order to stay on top of the

recruitment game, we will be looking at what practical measures logistics companies can take to improve recruitment of new staff and develop them so that they stay in the industry.” The latest transport tech will

also be the subject of debate during the education programme, with seminars on Blockchain and digitalisation in the industry.

Other associations

Multimodal also provides the space for UK associations to come together and build connections between their members. The United Kingdom

Warehousing Association (UKWA), which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, will be hosting a pavilion at Multimodal 2019, giving member organisations the opportunity to exhibit. UKWA will also be participating
